Shipping
policy.

What sellers ship, how buyers receive, and what we expect when something goes wrong in transit.

  1. 01

    How sellers ship

Sellers are responsible for packaging, labeling, and dispatching items within the shipping window declared on each listing. Default expectation is [TBD: 3 business days] from order confirmation unless the listing says otherwise.

Sellers must mark orders shipped and add a tracking number through /seller/orders within the shipping window. Failing to do so allows the buyer to cancel for a full refund.

  2. 02

    Shipping methods and carriers

U.S. domestic only at launch. Approved carriers: USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, freight LTL through [TBD: carrier list once we plumb in the shipping-label integration]. International shipping is opt-in per listing and subject to additional terms.

Large items (engines, body panels, complete vehicles) require freight and usually a residential lift-gate. Sellers must disclose freight requirements upfront so the buyer can confirm receiving capability.

  3. 03

    Shipping cost

    Three modes, per listing:

    • Flat rate — seller commits to a fixed shipping price at checkout.
    • Calculated — quote at checkout based on buyer ZIP and package dimensions.
    • Local pickup only — buyer must coordinate pickup with seller within [TBD: 14] days.

Sales tax is calculated and collected at checkout per applicable U.S. state nexus rules. [TBD: connect Stripe Tax before launch].

  4. 04

Insurance, loss, and damage in transit

Sellers are required to insure shipments to declared value. If a package is lost or damaged in transit, the seller files the carrier claim and either reships, refunds, or compensates the buyer per the resolved claim — the buyer does not have to chase the carrier.

Buyers should photograph any visible exterior damage at delivery (before opening) and inspect the contents within [TBD: 48] hours. Concealed damage must be reported through the order page within that window to qualify for a refund.

  5. 05

    Delivery confirmation and escrow release

When the carrier marks the package delivered, the order moves to “Delivered — confirm receipt.” The buyer has [TBD: 7] days to either confirm delivery (which releases funds to the seller) or open a dispute. If neither action is taken, funds release automatically.

  6. 06

    Restricted items and carrier limits

Hazardous materials beyond what carriers allow under 49 CFR § 173 are prohibited — this includes pressurized cylinders, lithium batteries beyond carrier limits, fuel-system parts that haven’t been properly drained, brake fluid in retail packaging.

The seller is responsible for compliant packaging and required shipping declarations. We’ll terminate accounts that repeatedly ship restricted items without proper labeling.
